Biography
Ghylan Safadi, born in Soueida in 1977, graduated from the Department of Painting at Damascus University in 2002. Known for his figurative artwork, Safadi’s style has evolved over the years while focusing on portraying the human form. His paintings often feature bold lines and muted colours, creating a serious or ominous atmosphere even in scenes of celebration. Safadi draws inspiration from personal experiences and famous figures, weaving them into stories that reflect his views on modern socio-political issues.
Safadi has exhibited his work widely in international solo and group shows, including at prestigious venues like the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and the Lighthouse Gallery in London, as well as prominent art fairs in Bahrain. His paintings are held in collections worldwide, including in Syria, Lebanon, France, the UK, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the US.
