Tayseer Barakat

Biography

Tayseer Barakat, born in 1959 in Jabalia Camp, Gaza, graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts in Alexandria, Egypt. He then moved to Ramallah, where he has been based, teaching and creating art. Barakat is renowned for his evocative works that encapsulate the depth of human experience and cultural heritage. His art, deeply rooted in his Palestinian identity, speaks a universal language of emotion and memory. Growing up in the vibrant yet tumultuous environment of Gaza, his early experiences profoundly shaped his artistic vision. His work reflects his connection to his homeland and its rich history, blending traditional and contemporary styles to explore themes of identity, loss, and resilience.
