Biography

Sami Mohammad, a Kuwaiti artist, is celebrated as one of the Arab World’s most esteemed artists, renowned for his magnificent bronze sculptures such as “Hunger” and “Mother”. Born in Kuwait, he received a government scholarship in 1966 to study at the Institute of Fine Arts in Cairo. Later, he furthered his studies at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture in Princeton, New Jersey, where he began working extensively with bronze casting.
Mohammad gained international recognition when his work was featured at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013, marking Kuwait’s debut at this prestigious art event. His sculptures primarily focus on human figures and themes related to Arab revolutions, reflecting deep social and political insights through his art.
