Biography
Ghadah Alkandari is an artist based in Kuwait, born in India in 1969. She holds a BA in Mass Communications from the American University in Cairo, supplemented by a pivotal painting course at the School of Visual Arts. Influenced by classical painters like Cezanne and Matisse, as well as comic books such as Mad Magazine and Archie, Ghadah’s art spans large-scale acrylic portraits and intimate pen and ink drawings.
Her work explores human emotions and familial dynamics through visceral paintings and surreal sketchbook drawings, influenced by authors like Barry Yourgrau and Shel Silverstein. Ghadah has held numerous solo exhibitions in Kuwait and participated in international shows like the Femmes Artistes Du Koweit in Paris and exhibitions in Dubai and Kuwait City.
In 2009, she launched PrettyGreenBullet.com, a blog aiming to democratize art appreciation. This initiative has led to three interactive exhibitions alongside her traditional showcases, highlighting her belief in art’s inclusive nature beyond herself.
