Maysaloun Faraj

Biography

Maysaloun Faraj is a London-based artist, working across painting, sculpture, and ceramics. Born in Los Angeles, California, USA in 1955 to Iraqi parents, she moved to Baghdad in 1968 and graduated with a BSc in Architecture from Baghdad University in 1978. In 1982, she settled in London after a brief period in Paris. Faraj has furthered her art education in London and participated in residency programs at the Al-Mansouria Foundation in Paris between 2015 and 2018.

Her artistic expression revolves around vibrant colours and geometric shapes, influenced by her background in architecture. Her work often explores themes of spirituality and the human experience, drawing connections between Eastern and Western traditions. Faraj’s art is held in prestigious public collections including the British Museum, National Museum for Women in the Arts (USA), and Jordan National Museum, as well as notable private collections worldwide. Maysaloun Faraj currently resides and works in London.
