Biography
Hamdan Buti Al Shamsi, born in Al-Ain, UAE in 1981, is a self-taught artist specializing in collage, digital media, and photography. He blends digital and traditional methods to explore the impact of consumer culture and technological changes on art. According to Al Shamsi, his work “reflects subconscious and conscious experiences, with my vision focused on visual interpretation.”
A significant figure in the UAE art scene, he has taught photography with the Abu Dhabi Educational Council and led workshops at FUNN: Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children. Al Shamsi was also chosen as one of 21 international artists for the Expo 2020 campaign ‘For Everyone’ and received the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship in collaboration with the Rhode Island School of Design.
