Charles Khoury

Biography

Charles Khoury was born in Beirut in 1966. He graduated from ALBA in 2005 and has been a member of the Salon d’Automne at the Nicolas Sursock Museum since 1995. He is also part of the International Association of Fine Arts – UNESCO in Paris and the Association of Lebanese Artists. Since 1989, Khoury has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across various countries, including the Ivory Coast, Syria, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Dubai, Jordan, Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh, China, the UK, and France. His work has been featured in prominent art fairs such as Art Dubai, Abu Dhabi Art, Artuel, the Bangladesh Biennale, Art 14 London, and the Beirut Art Fair.

In 2008, Khoury was awarded the Special Jury Award at the Salon d’Automne – Nicolas Sursock Museum. He has attended various workshops, including the Artist in Residency – Lithography Workshop in Morocco in 2013 and the 10th Insight of China – Workshop for Well-Known Arab Artists in Hangzhou, China, in 2018. Khoury’s artistic style has evolved from abstract paintings to figurative works in a cubist style, often depicting animals and botanical shapes with a playful, sometimes absurdist, spirit. His sculptural works, known for their precise geometric forms, are similarly playful, featuring bold primary colours and striking outlines.
