Sara Abbasian, born in 1982 in Tehran, Iran, earned her BFA in Painting in 2014. Her dark, apocalyptic, black-and-white drawings explore the often inhumane behaviours of contemporary society. Her work reflects a keen awareness of social issues, both locally and globally, addressing themes such as war, violence, death, destruction, disease, and decadence, often infused with irony. Using various media, including drawing, painting, and installation, she has exhibited extensively.

Abbasian has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows in Iran and internationally. Her work has been featured in events such as the Athens Digital Arts Festival, Luciano Benetton Collection’s Imago Mundi Art in Venice, and Art Dubai.
