Biography
Mohannad Orabi, born in Damascus in 1977, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus in 2000. His work is characterised by a focus on spontaneity, freedom in forms and colours, and the creation of art without fixed guidelines. Many of Orabi’s multimedia paintings explore the development of consciousness during childhood.
Orabi won first prize at the Syrian National Young Artists Exhibition in 2006 and was named among Foreign Policy’s ‘100 Leading Global Thinkers’ in 2014. He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows across Syria, Dubai, Beirut, Amman, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Venice.
