Leila Kubba Kawash

Biography

Leila Kubba Kawash, born in Baghdad in 1945 to a Swiss-American mother and an Iraqi father, is a distinguished artist with a diverse international career. She earned a National Diploma of Art and Design from the Manchester School of Art and Architecture in the UK. Her artistic education was further enriched by five years at the Corcoran College of Art in Washington, DC, and additional courses in printmaking and painting at St. Martins College in London.

Kawash has participated in numerous solo exhibitions globally, including 24 solo shows at prominent venues such as Leighton House in London, Magna Gallery in Athens, and the Atrium of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. Her work has also been featured at cultural centers in Abu Dhabi, Amman, and across the United States. Her artworks are housed in significant private and public collections, including the British Museum, the International Monetary Fund, the Jordan National Gallery, the Abu Dhabi Cultural Center, and Audi Bank in Beirut.

Currently, Kawash is the director and owner of Art Space Hamra in Beirut, Lebanon, where she continues to exhibit contemporary artists and work on her own creative projects.
