Biography
Walaa Dakak, born in 1978 in Damascus, Syria, holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Damascus and studied Contemporary Art and New Media at the University of Paris La Sorbonne. His work features minimalist, cautious figures with vague silhouettes and featureless faces, save for wide-set eyes that convey psychological depth and introspection. Dakak’s distinctive style employs bold primary colors as backgrounds for his monochromatic figures. His installation *Paranoia Eye and I* was featured in the *Syrie: Cris – Action* exhibition at the Institut du Monde Arabe in 2014. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Paris in Art and Sciences with a focus on aesthetic art.
