Biography
Born in 1983 in Mazouna, Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia, Slimen El Kamel is an artist profoundly inspired by his Tunisian heritage. His work vividly captures the rich popular narratives and rural imagination of his upbringing. Immersed in a strong oral tradition of storytelling and poetry from a young age, these elements have significantly influenced his artistic expression. He honed his craft at the Tunis Institute of Fine Arts, where he further developed his unique style. Slimen’s solo exhibition at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris in 2022 marked a significant milestone, elevating his status on the international art scene.
