Biography
Mohamed Abusal, born in Gaza in 1976, originally graduated in finance and management but retrained as an artist in 2000. He attended numerous workshops and conducted extensive research to develop his artistic skills.
Since 2000, Abusal has produced bold and innovative work that has received much publicity and critical acclaim. His notable projects include “Metro in Gaza” (2012) and “Shambar” (2013), which consist of installations, designs, and photographs reflecting life in besieged Gaza and envisioning a brighter future. Over the past decade, he has exhibited extensively worldwide, including in France, the US, the UK, Australia, and Dubai. In 2005, he received the Charles Aspry Prize for Contemporary Art. He is also a founding member of Eltiqa, a group of contemporary artists formed in 2002.
