Biography
Barsoum Barsouma, born in 1947 in Al-Hasakah, Syria, is a distinguished artist known for his evocative paintings that explore man’s connection to land and architecture. He studied painting at the University of Damascus and later worked as a patterning expert at the Syrian Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums. Barsouma’s work is notable for its blend of symbolism and expressive theatricality, aiming to provoke an emotional response from viewers.
A member of the Syrians and Arabs Fine Art Union, Barsouma has been recognized with awards from institutions like the Syrian Association of Fine Arts and the Taha AlTaha Museum in Raqa. His art, which often combines ancient Syrian motifs with vibrant colors and surrealist elements, has been exhibited extensively in solo and group shows both in Syria and internationally. Barsouma’s paintings are celebrated for their fusion of historical narrative and innovative expression, and they hold a valued place in private collections worldwide.
