Biography
Aula Al Ayoubi, born in Damascus, Syria in 1973, is an artist now living and working in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Diploma in Rehabilitation Education from the University of Damascus.
Al Ayoubi has exhibited extensively in Syria, Kuwait, and now the USA, with her work held in private collections. She is known for her dynamic and detailed portraits of iconic Middle Eastern women, such as Faten Hamama, Umm Kulthoum, Soad Hosny, and Fairuz. Her paintings are characterised by rich textures, brilliant colours, and meticulous compositions, making her work instantly recognisable.
Al Ayoubi’s art celebrates the contributions of influential women, with her portraits capturing their enigmatic and glamorous qualities. Her process involves multiple drafts, including conceptualising, texturing, glazing, and layering, resulting in captivating and sensuous renderings.
